Join the next generation of high tech graffiti artists and spray TheNewDowse – with lasers! Street art/design crews Via Grafik and Cut Collective will lead you into live, legal large-scale tagging. This event also features twin sound stages with Olmecha Soundsystem’s legendary MC Imon Star and King Homeboy (NZ beatbox champ) supported by Mighty Asterix, DJ Voodoo (Valley All-Stars, NZ) and DJ Duz (Perth, Australia), as well as skate pro demos. Supported by AVS, Red Bull, Secret Level and Empire Skate.
LASERTAG allows artists to get their message across without any permanent defacement to buildings: bringing independent voices back to our increasingly branded urban environment. LASERTAG is a creation of Graffiti Research Lab (GRL), a New York art group founded to outfit the world’s street artists with innovative, open source technology.
In conjunction with the exhibition Common Ground: Via Grafik meets Cut Collective, in co-operation with Goethe-Institut and ZM.
LASERTAG will also feature at the Cuba St Carnival.
