High Hair and Glam

The famous and the fashionable recently gathered in Auckland to see the winning designs at New Zealand’s most prestigious hairdressing awards. This design by Salute Hair & Day Spa won the award for Avant-Garde Hairdresser of the Year.

Nineteen finalists from around the country were selected by a team of international judges for 2006/07 Schwarzkopf Professional New Zealand Hairdressing Awards.

These international awards are known within the industry as one of the top hair dressing awards. The entrants' work is sent to Hamburg in Germany prior to the awards for judging.

Hills Hats - Modernising Headwear since 1875

Hills Hats was founded by Chas Hills in the 1870s in Wellington during an era where hats were everyday wear. Today, Hills Hats is operated by Pieter Smuts-Kennedy and his son Simon - two proud hat wearers dedicated to encouraging New Zealanders to don hats once more through their provision of quality headwear.

Pieter Smuts-Kennedy purchased the business in 1998, along with additional equipment dating back to the hat hay days of the 1920s and 30s.

Liza Foreman – Turning Heads

Liza Foreman is a milliner based in Lower Hutt who specialises in one off designs. Before discovering millinery, Liza trained as a glass blower with Högland Glass in Nelson, and then went on to study textile design at Wellington Polytechnic and jewellery at Nelson Polytechnic. Her career took on its current direction when she saw an advertisement in the late 1980s for a millinery class at Wellington Polytechnic’s fashion school.
