CUPCUP
11 September - 14 November 2004
CupCup was an eye-popping installation by leading German artist Thomas Bayrle and students from Massey University’s School of Fine Arts*.
Concerned with questions of mass production, mass mobility, the phenomenon of mass rallies and the standardisation of lives, Bayrle works on a mass scale, combining elements of graphic design, pop art and animation. Best known for plastering entire interiors with wall-to-wall pattern, his work is sensory overload at its most energetic.
The Massey University Rita Angus, Artist in Residence is a partnership between Massey University, the Goethe Institut, the Thorndon Trust and The Dowse. The residency provides the opportunity for eminent artists from New Zealand and overseas to develop a body of work in Wellington.
