To celebrate the opening of John Lake’s exhibition Crude Futures, long-time collaborators So So Modern take to the stage with their debut album of the same name. So So Modern make no secret of its musical influences, from hardcore punk, no-wave, dance, kraut-rock to free-noise and electronica. In recent times the band has traded in its explosive energy for a more introverted presence, finding simple resolution in complex rhythms and drawing melodic responses from heavy restraint.
