John Lake: Crude Futures

17 April - 25 July 2010 | media release

Mixing surrealism with a documentary approach, John Lake is primarily concerned with exploring the underlying themes and meta-narratives within contemporary culture, particularly those enacted in suburbia. In Crude Futures he focuses on the expression of utopian / dystopian desires played out within the everyday reality of suburban Hutt Valley, from the local skating rink to the line-up of Miss Hutt Valley hopefuls.
