The Wallace Art Awards

Marcus Williams, Susan Jowsey, The Correction, photographic diptych 2009

17 October - 24 January | media release

The annual Wallace Art Awards are the longest running awards of their type in New Zealand.

Founded by Auckland businessman, James Wallace, the awards acknowledge, encourage and financially reward contemporary New Zealand artists producing outstanding work in the mediums of painting, sculpture and photography. Many of the winners and finalists are added to the Wallace Collection each year.

Established in 1992, the Wallace Art Awards provide new emerging and established artists the chance to win international residencies and cash prizes as well as receive national exposure as part of the travelling exhibition.

TheNewDowse is the only Wellington venue for the Awards exhibition.
Catalogues will be available for sale during the exhibition.

Proudly supported by Gillespie Young Watson and the Wallace Arts Trust
