Hanne Johnsen 2007"our stories" / FREE

Toured by IHC and CCS Disability Action
Based on Hanne Johnsen's photographs and Glenn Busch's book The Man with No Arms & Other Stories, this exhibition tells the stories of real people with disabilities. Telecom IHC Art Awards 2008 / FREE
13 September until 1 February 2009

The top 30 artworks from the annual IHC Telecom Art Awards will be on display - and up for auction at www.ihc.org.nz until 23 September. The IHC Telecom Art Awards were established in 2004 to encourage the creativity of New Zealanders with an intellectual disability - come see the results for yourself.

Student Craft/Design Awards
2008 Winners Announced

Genevieve Packer is the Overall Winner of TheNewDowse Friends' Student Craft/Design Award. Her Aerial Antics features a fantail motif in a sexy, tactile wallpaper and lampshade design. Merit Award winner Palarat Ronakiat (Trong) created Kostellow - a bookshelf using spatial intrigue to draw in the reader.

Reuben FriendBlumhardt Foundation/Creative NZ Curatorial Internship Awarded

Reuben Friend has been awarded the Creative NZ-Blumhardt Foundation Curatorial Internship for 2008-09. Of Pakeha and Ngati Maniapoto (Tainui) descent, Reuben will curate an exhibition in early 2009 at TheNewDowse. Reuben says, "Opportunities like this internship are essential to nurture and challenge the next generation of New Zealand curators".
