Late Lounge art + musicLATE LOUNGE
Thurs 3 September | 5-9pm

We bring late night Thurs action to Lower Hutt with the Late Lounge. This month, SMP Ensemble play electronic chamber music from 7pm, followed by a musician Q&A session . Come early for a free gallery tour at 5.30 or 6.30pm, or treat yourself to dinner at Cafe Reka or a civilised beverage from our mini-bar in the reception foyer. All facilities open till 9pm.

090909 UpStage Festival
Weds 9 September | 2pm

A unique festival of live online performances (cyberformances) by 13 artists traversing 9 different time zones. Just log on to www.upstage.org.nz and click on the link to attend. Or pop into TheNewDowse or Hutt City Libraries and tune in to one of the Connect computers or watch on a big screen.

A new kids' show exploring art through all five senses. Can you smell a painting? Do some artworks make you feel hungry? Can you feel an idea with your fingers? Tickle My Senses is an immersive experience that lets you expand the ways you experience art... and life!

TheNewDowse and our colleagues at Hutt City Parks and Gardens want to help you go native! As part of Conservation Week, bring in your weeds to the Tutukiwi Living Gallery (the old Orchid House cnr Laings Rd/Myrtle St) and swap them for a primo new native plant.

The Box Woman - Kunha PatuguaThe Box Woman | FREE

The Box Woman - Kunha Patagua is a theatrical performance featuring audience participation, poetry, music and fantastical costumes. Based on the thousand-year-old story of an Amazonian woman with a magical box for a head, this event is a treat for adults and children alike. Pull up a seat or a bean bag and enjoy the show.

Shows open Saturday 26 September

Cao Fei is a Chinese video/online media artist and rising star in the contemporary art scene, with works in the Guggenheim and displayed at the Venice Biennale. Meanwhile, local art star Michael Parekowhai fills gallery 1 with Jim, a giant bunny.
CAO FEI: UTOPIA IS A JOINT PROJECT BY ARTSPACE AUCKLAND AND THE INSTITUTE OF MODERN ART BRISBANE.
